Director Janet K. Orr is pleased to serve an elected member to the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Board of Directors (2010-13).  Janet is active as a youth specialist, basic education consultant, program evaluator, teacher trainer, assessment specialist and curriculum developer. She is experienced at providing  services both in the United States and in the developing countries of Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

A major area of expertise in both US and overseas contexts is the assessment of education impact and program evaluation. This includes both formative and summative evaluations with data collected and analyzed for both its qualitative and quantitative value, examples include: Evaluation of the Immigrant Education Portfolio of Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, Jobs for the 21st Century: A Sri Lankan Assessment (2005), Mini-Assessment of Education in Tanzania (2003), case studies for the Descriptive Study of Services to LEP Students (2002), and the Preliminary Formative Evaluation of District of Columbia Public Schools Education Services for LEP/ELLs (1999-2000).

In the US, she served English Language Learners (ELLs) both in Colorado and Virginia in the classroom, through curriculum development, and as administrator of ESL services in Denver Public Schools, CO and Fairfax County Public Schools, VA.

Janet's English as a foreign language methodology books, Growing Up with English and Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Primary Schools embody her interests in primary school curriculum, student assessment, instructional methodology and teacher training. Janet has served as an education expert  in Bahrain, Botswana, Brazil, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, China, Egypt, Israel, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Lithuania, Madagascar, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Turkey, Uruguay and Zambia.
